Paint trends 2014 (part 1)

Well January is now over, so I had better mention the paint trends for 2014.

2014 is going to be full of muted colours, serene and simplistic but not sterile and boring. We are looking at colours with depth, a richness which goes beyond the colour itself and warms the room.

There is going to be a change from the neutral palette, grey is the new black and white is being replaced by white-grey like Quicksilver or white-yellow like Chalkstone. Forget white ceilings, soften the room with Mellow Ochre or Parchment Cream.

The new white

Beiges are warming up, gone is the boring Magnolia and in its place is Terracotta White or a rich honey cream like Golden Amber.

Embrace the warmer shades of pastel, don’t let your rooms be dreary “builders cream”.

Golden Amber:

Coming next week: “Nature’s Hues”: colours which are going to feature in 2014.
